Local artist and Southern California native GENE presents his open studio/gallery to the art loving public. GENE’s art reflects his pride in his Mexican-American roots, his lifelong fascination with the Samurai and Asian art, his training in Shodo & Chinese calligraphy, along with his infatuation with the human figure, as his vibrant energy and vivid colors jump from the canvas. GENE draws inspiration from simple movement and the beauty of the human form, capturing the energy and rhythm of the moment and the whole of mankind. GENE’s images evoke not only the motion of the body, but also the intangible movements of the wind, atmosphere, energy and breathe as he strives to portray “the human spirit at play.”
